2019: a 5th edition of the Summer School "Plant Health and Quality" with 22 students from 10 countries

The 5th edition of the Summer School Plant Health and Quality took place from June 24 to July 12, 2019 on the Campus du Végétal. Organized within the framework of the Summer Schools of the University of Angers, the program is built around the different research areas of SFR Quasav.

The school has been awarded the "Ecole d'Eté France Excellence" label.

For the 3rd year, the partnership between the Summer School France Excellence (EEFE) and the French Embassy in China has been renewed. It enabled the financing of the registration of 6 Chinese students. A Brazilian student was able to have her plane ticket paid for by the French Embassy in Brazil.

The RFI Objectif Végétal programme offered a total exemption from registration fees to 7 other students, including 6 students from the State University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and a partial exemption to 5 Colombian or European students.

3 weeks of intensive program

47 speakers from SFR Quasav and its partners were involved. 6 guest speakers complemented the presentations of the SFR Quasav members: J. GAUDIN (INRA Bordeaux), J.B. MOREL (INRA Montpellier), S. PENNFIELD (John Innes Center, United Kingdom), M. TASIN (Swedish University of Agricultural Science, Sweden) and K. YOEYAMA (Ehime University, Japan).

Field visits to experimental plots (FNAMS), analytical or diagnostic laboratories (SNES-GEVES, ANSES) and ITEPMAI were also on the programme, as were visits to Terra Botanica and the Museum of Natural History in Paris.

Half a day was devoted to the presentation by the students of their previous projects and research work.

Greenyd, the association of doctors, PhD students and post-docs of SFR Quasav, organised, with several invited foreign PhD students, a convivial evening around "doing your thesis in France".

A very good satisfaction rate

94% of students reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the interactions established. The satisfaction rate for each conference or workshop ranged from 73% to 100%. 100% of students would recommend the school to their relatives.

Edition 2020: unfortunately, due to Covid-19 pandemia, the summer school has been cancelled. See you in 2021 for a new edition!
